Congratulations to all 10 Equator College Fashion students who made it to the finals in the Malaysia Footwear Design Competition 2015. We're proud to announce student Hea Jing Ee won 2nd Runner up in Evening Shoe Category. And 2 students Heah Hui Xuan and Lai Wan Sean won the Most Promising Award for Avant Garde Category.
Equator students have once again done it! Congratulations to Hiou Zi Jiang for winning 2nd prize, Leow Xu Jia and Chong Jun Jie for winning 3rd prize in the Tanjong Heritage National Level Art Competition 2015. You have made us very proud!
The Tanjong Heritage art competition was launched in 2001 by Tanjong Public Limited Company (TPLC) to promote the appreciation of Malaysia's heritage among Malaysian youth and to nurture and showcase the talents of our young artists. All the staff and lecturers of Equator would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners and participants for their effort.
Equator is honored to host the Holiday Camp for Thai Students from Deebuk Phang-Nga Wittayayon School, Phanga-Nga Province. A 5-day English, Art & Design workshop for 31 charming students and teachers to explore, discover and create the art and craft prepared for them.
Lecturers guide students as they create and explore art, and animation by imagine in their own unique ways, experimenting with a variety of art materials and methods that encourage the development of creative thinking and problem solving skills. Last day of the camp, they were touched to see themselves played in the video, and be inspired to others. Hope to see you all again!
Today's we are honor to invite famous artist Ch'ng Kiah Kiean for Sketching Workshop and live demonstration. He is an artist, a designer, and a photographer with a unique and expressive painting style with influence from Chinese Paintings.
He shared his sketching techniques and demonstrated on the ways to make your own dry twig sketching tool, different type of lines work and papers that can be achieved.

From 17th - 23rd September, our Digital 3D Animation students traveled to Tokyo, Japan to attend Tokyo Game Show 2015, interviewed pop culture personality Danny Choo at his Tokyo studio and experienced the Japanese culture. The study trip provides them with a unique learning experience to deepen their understanding and appreciation for the Japanese arts and culture. In addition to museum and exhibition visits, they also attended award-winning illustrator Ashley Wood's Japan Venture "With Smiles On Our Lips" exhibition , where they got the chance to meet him in person.
For the first time, an ASEAN-Japan TV Festival was organized by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and Radio Television Malaysia and ASEAN countries to strengthen cooperation and stay relevant to the ever changing landscape of the new media and broadcasting industry.
The festival opened with a two-day forum for the delegates to discuss trends and opportunities for ASEAN-Japan collaboration in television such as co-production, programme exchanges, media convergence and copyright protection. Speakers from ASEAN and Japan ranged from policy-makers to producers and content developers on 9-12 September 2015 in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Congratulations to fashion design technology students Gavin Tan Jia Wei & Brendan Chan Chee Kean, were selected for this year Malaysia Official Designers Association (MODA) 2015 Samsung Innovative Awards 2015 Top 12 finalist on Thursday, 3rd September 2015 in Kuala Lumpur.
From time to time the SRC organised fun events welcoming the new students. The month of August, they celebrated Colour Carnival in Penang-style by having Laksa, Western meals, Oriental meals, Popcorn, Games and Prizes to try your luck. The Leith Street heritage buildings offered live music band performances to chillout throughout the day. It was a well deserved, relaxing and fun Saturday for all students and public to enjoy.

Today's live demonstration and sharing session for Batch 153 new students by local famous artist Mr. Khoo Cheang Jin. The streetscape with old buildings and unique Architecture has always been his subject for painting. During the demo, Cheang Jin shared his approach in skecthing and watercolour painting and encouraged new students to go out into nature to paint field studies and then create their works inspired by the atmospheric, memories and imagination.
Improving functionality, enhancing experiences and transforming lives is the core ethos of "Design With Heart", selected as this year's theme at the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award. "Design With Heart" aims to be the catalyst that spurs young interior designers and architects to ideate concepts that infuse convenience, practicality and purpose into our living, working and leisure spaces.
During the official launching, alumni Ms Fendarie Su quoted before she end her presentation "When you are doing design, try to live in the design. We live in design. Give emotion to your design, bring soul to the space".

Famed by his Sakura Collection 2014, alumni Lim Syer Kai dedicated his Avant Garde collection of Xue Kai 001 Spring/Summer 2016 unveiled during the Penang Fashion Week 2015 Festival. He explored the ideas of form & shape - modifying the pattern structure and monochromatic colors with suit, pants and long dress. Can't wait for his next up coming collection.
The Pulau Tikus Logo & Theme Design Exhibition of 110 entries were held at Gurney Plaza, Ground Floor New Wing from 18th - 8th May 2015.

The students, Tan Jia Xuan won 2nd prize(left) and Ang Bee Ching won 4th prize(right), each walked away with cash prizes of MYR4,000 and MYR2,000 respectively.
